Cantlay was solid as ever Saturday in the Genesis Invitational until a soft bogey toward the end of the round that effectively cut his lead in half. However, Woods admitted afterwards that he was dealing with back spasms for the final three holes of his round, something which helped to contribute to the shank on the 18th hole. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler surged into contention to win a third straight Phoenix Open on Sunday, overcoming a huge mistake on the 18th hole to shoot a 5-under 66 in the weather-delayed third round. Scheffler was at 13 under, two shots behind Sahith Theegala and Nick Taylor as players struggle to avoid a Monday finish amid a second straight week of weather issues on the PGA Tour. Theegala matched Taylor's two-putt birdie on the short par-4 17th to tie for the lead and shot 69. Charley Hoffman had four straight birdies to close out a 64 and was tied with Andrew Novak at 14 under. A long weather delay pushed the first round into Friday, and the tournament has tried to play catchup ever since.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Dustin Johnson won LIV Golf Las Vegas on Saturday in windy and chilly conditions for his third victory on the Saudi-funded tour, pulling ahead with a birdie on No. Johnson shot a 1-under 69 to finish at 12-under 198 at Las Vegas Country Club, breaking out of a late six-way tie on another day with the temperature barely climbing into the 50s in the shadow of the Super Bowl. Johnson opened with a birdie on the par-5 first, then dropped back with bogeys on Nos. 13, 15 and 17 — holing a 12-footer on the par-4 17th — and made the par save on the par-4 18th for the victory, hitting to 12 feet from the rough and two-putting. The 39-year-old Johnson has won in each of LIV's first three seasons, taking playoffs in Boston in September 2022 and Tulsa, Oklahoma, last May.

That moved much of the second round into Saturday and there was another delay — this one for just 21 minutes — in the morning because of unplayable conditions. Scottie Scheffler — eyeing his third straight Phoenix Open win — shot 66 and is four shots back at 8 under. Theegala shot up the leaderboard on the back nine, with birdies on Nos. In the shadow of the Super Bowl, Johnson and DeChambeau reached 11-under 129 at Las Vegas Country Club on another chilly day with the temperature barely in the 50s. Rahm had a 63 to join Peter Uihlein (65) and Matthew Wolff (66) at 9 under. In the team competition, Johnson's 4Aces were tied for the lead at 26 under with a RangeGoats team featuring Uihlein, Wolff and Watson. CNN —Cristóbal del Solar wrote his name into the history books on Thursday, as the Chilean golfer shot a 13-under 57 at the Astara Golf Championship to set the new record for the lowest round ever shot at a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Del Solar’s bogey-free feat bests the previous record set by Germany’s Stephan Jaeger and “Mr. “Incredible, man,” del Solar told reporters. “Hopefully, I’ll celebrate Sunday as well,” del Solar added. Last week, del Solar’s Chilean compatriot Joaquin Niemann shot a 12-under 59 at the LIV Golf season opener in Mayakoba, Mexico, carding an eagle and 10 birdies.
